“The truth is like a hidden seed — it waits, buried deep, until the time is right to break the surface.”

Every evening at exactly 6:13 p.m., an old man with a cane walked beneath the giant sycamore tree on Bellwood Lane. He never looked up, never lingered — just tapped his way across the brick path and disappeared behind the ivy-covered gate of Number 9.

To most, he was a relic of the past — silent, forgettable. But to 12-year-old Clara, he was a riddle wrapped in tweed.

Clara had noticed the man’s strange habit two weeks ago. Her curiosity had bloomed like the purple foxgloves by the fence. She decided to follow him — carefully, quietly, barefoot, so the gravel wouldn’t give her away.

What she found was not what she expected.

Behind the gate of Number 9 was no ordinary garden. There were wind chimes made of bone, a fountain that sang in Latin, and an old table carved with strange symbols. In the center sat a book — bound in black leather, pulsing like it was breathing.

The old man turned, his eyes locking with Clara’s. But instead of anger, he simply said, “You’re early.”

He pushed the book toward her.

“Every decade, the Keeper must pass the Secret to one who can see beyond the veil. That is you.”

Clara opened the book. The first page was blank — until a title slowly appeared in ink that glowed faintly red:

🕯️ 𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓒𝓸𝓭𝓮 𝓤𝓷𝓼𝓹𝓸𝓴𝓮𝓷 🕯️

The symbol of a closed eye appeared beneath it.

And just like that, Clara’s world shifted forever.
