🌧️ "The Crack in the Wall" | A Short Story on Vulnerability 🌿
🖋️ Because sometimes, what breaks us... makes us real.
📚 Short Story: "The Crack in the Wall"
There once was a village where every home was made of stone — strong, solid, and flawless. People took pride in how perfect their walls looked, untouched by time or storm.
Except for Mara’s house.
Right above her fireplace, a long, jagged crack split the wall — a scar from a past earthquake. While others patched theirs quickly, Mara left hers bare.
“Why don’t you cover it?” neighbors often asked, eyebrows raised.
But Mara would only smile and say, “Because this crack saved me.”
Years ago, when the quake struck, Mara had been standing beneath that very spot. As the ground roared and her house trembled, a beam shifted just enough to spare her — the crack was the mark of what held.
Over time, Mara placed small flowers in the split, one for each year of survival, each lesson learned. Visitors began to pause and stare, not in judgment, but awe. Some even went home and uncovered their own cracks — quiet places where pain had once lived but had now grown soft with meaning.
🌱 Reflection: The Strength of Softness
Vulnerability is the crack in our perfect facade — the part we try to hide because it shows we’ve been through something. But often, that’s where the truth lives. The beauty. The survival.
Mara didn’t patch over her pain — she turned it into something living.
What if we stopped hiding the cracks in our lives and started tending to them instead?
