I used to sit on the floor, knees pulled to my chest, listening. The walls smelled of old books and monsoon rain. Outside, the streetlights blinked on, one by one, as if practicing patience.

There was a time when everything felt slower.
When laughter echoed longer.
When goodbyes didn’t taste so final.

I remembered my mother’s voice calling me in before sunset, the way her bangles chimed like tiny bells. I remembered scraped knees, unfinished letters, and promises we were too young to understand. Time hadn’t taken those moments—it had folded them neatly and hidden them away.

The radio clicked off one evening and never came back on.

But sometimes, when the night is quiet enough, I still hear the song.
